June 21st, 2013 – 8th Edition of Discop Africa Already Sold Out

Los Angeles, 21 June 2013 – The Los Angeles-based DISCOP Organization can today announce an already sold out floor plan for its next edition of DISCOP AFRICA. Taking place from 6 to 8 November 2013 at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg, the event has grown to become Africa’s most highly regarded gathering of the content development, production and distribution industries.

The 3-day agenda will include a vibrant market showcasing top regional, multicultural and global Film and TV brands and their latest content and a varied conference program focusing on production fund-raising and hands-on learning opportunities. Also taking place will be the 2nd edition of the FORMATS FROM AFRICA™ pitching competition promoting TV formats created in Africa that have local, regional and international appeal alongside numerous networking opportunities, including two major celebrations: Bollywood’s centenary and Nollywood’s 20th anniversary.

More than 2000 delegates from 70-plus countries are expected to attend the 8th edition of DISCOP AFRICA, representing more than 800 new and established regional and global companies driving content business and digital changes with and across Africa.

Developed in partnership with trade associations representing Africa’s most active production communities, the conference program will address issues of concern and interest for emerging and established content creators, helping them to develop practical survival skills, build relations, access game changing-information and navigate the coproduction and funding terrain. The conference program will also provide valuable insight into coproduction dynamics, regional and international distribution opportunities and the tools available to support the rapid growth of Africa’s independent content production sector.

The DISCOP Organization supports the development, the production and the commerce of film, television content and adaptation rights in new markets, and plans two annual industry gatherings, DISCOP WEST ASIA in Istanbul and DISCOP AFRICA in Johannesburg. In 2005, BASIC LEAD entered a strategic partnership with the US-based NATPE organization to cross promote DISCOP and NATPE events.
